Hallmark Channel News – WCTH Season 8: The ‘New Normal’

The new normal for many productions are self-quarantining if the cast and crew are from other areas. Since the Hallmark TV show films in Canada, that means self-quarantining for at least 14 days for those that are arriving from elsewhere. Phil Klapwyk is with IATSE Local 891, which represents several thousand professional artists and technicians in the Yukon and British Columbia. Per Global News, he explained,

“The people that are on set want to be confident that the key talent that’s coming in from the United States is not going to be shedding any virus while they’re working with them.”

What exactly are pods? It’s not something physical, but it’s referring to social distancing and not crossing into other departments. Actress Erin Krakow (Elizabeth Thatcher) told ET that each pod is like an area or department. There are a certain number of people in each pod and they need to avoid “cross-contaminating” into the other pods.

This goes along with the social distancing measures. This doesn’t just include the cast members, but the crew as well. It’s going to be a bare-bones production crew for safety reasons. Like with many productions that have gotten the green light across in Canada, USA, and the UK, everyone must wear a mask unless they are actually in front of a camera filming.

The series is filming outdoors as much as possible. This is due to experts saying that there is less chance of spreading and catching the infection in outdoor settings. Due to season 8 filming around this time of year, they should be enjoying some good weather, and getting lots of fresh air.

Hallmark Channel New – Buffets, Candy Jars, and Enhanced Cleaning

Many productions offer the cast and crew buffets, candy jars, and snacks. However, due to COVID-19, the buffets have been replaced with prepackaged food, per Global News. There are no more candy jars or dishes.

Part of Canada’s Phase 3 restrictions include enhanced cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing efforts.

Hopefully, everyone stays healthy and safe while filming! When Calls The Heart season 8 should premiere sometime next year.
