I Know What You Did Last Summer finally got a trailer for the fourth edition of the movie that premieres in July this year. It’s taken years to put together, and follows the original from 1997, and the next one called I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Is the movie going to be worth watching? Read on to find out what people think about it.

The Trailer & Spoilers

The trailer from Sony Pictures arrived on YouTube on April 22. You will want to put the kids to bed early and probably lock your door, as there’s plenty of blood and gore in the teaser. While someone looks on from outside, night has fallen, and the good guy sends his woman up to meditate in the bath. Soon, like a fish on a speargun, he’s getting shot at and literally reeled in.

Beautiful Southport isn’t so beautiful anymore. Some scenes are referring to the past iterations, and “it’s not going to stop.” Of course, the next one on the butchery list gets warned about what’s coming to heighten the tension.

The suspenseful effects, the eerie music, and the inevitable question, “What did you do last summer?” make for a great reboot if being terrified is what gets you on the edge of your seat.

Many people saw the original, and they seemed impressed with Sony’s new edition. Here are some reactions:

  • The first movie is a guilty pleasure of mine, also Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe were both GORGEOUS in it!!!!
  • I screamed so happy when I saw Freddie and Jennifer!! I can’t wait to see this.
  • I know EXACTLY what I’m going to do this Summer!!!, watch this film.
  • I liked that they haven’t spoiled the whole movie in the trailer good job!
  • I’ve been a fan of the original I Know What You Did Last Summer since 1997. I’m beyond happy that Julie and Ray are returning in the new movie! And the fact that they at least mention Helen Shivers – even just with a photo – truly warmed my heart. That’s real nostalgia! I can’t wait to see it. Hoping for a strong return to the roots!

The Cast

In December last year, Jennifer Love Hewitt spoke with Parade, and the actress had no intention of being a bit part. At the time, she had been negotiating a comeback as Julie James for I Know What You Did Last Summer. You might recall that the original story was about some young people who covered up a car accident, which resulted in the death of a man.
