Warner Bros. CEO Hints More Original Harry Potter Content On The Horizon

Harry Potter spoilers and updates tease that more original content of the ever famous movie franchise is on the horizon. It seems like the power that be is interested in making more original Harry Potter content.

Warner Bros. CEO, Ann Sarnoff, hinted that they’d love to create more new Harry Potter content for HBO Max, its streaming service. The news comes in the wake of making all eight Harry Potter films available for streaming on HBO Max earlier this year.

New Harry Potter Projects

Warner Bros., HBO Max, and Harry Potter may work together to develop new projects.

“We would love to develop more original Harry Potter series, and we regularly talk to JK Rowling and her team. Whatever we do has to be true to the canon, and true to the ethos of the Wizarding World, and who Harry is,” Sarnoff said.

Although the rights of these films are with NBC’s Peacock, HBO Max appears to be their home, at least for now. WarnerMedia’s streaming service is reportedly keen on creating new Harry Potter projects.

Its spin-off, The Fantastic Beast series, will be releasing its third installment, The Secrets of Dumbledore in April 2022. Rumors are also circulating that HBO Max is working on a Harry Potter TV show, but nothing has been confirmed, yet.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Special

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which was released in 2001, was the first movie adaptation of JK Rowling’s famous novels. The film was a massive hit. The movie franchise comprised 8 movies in total. It also led to the creation of The Fantastic Beasts spin-off series, The Cursed Child play, and sparked rumors about an HBO Max original series.

A lot of Harry Potter fans wondered if the franchise would celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of its first movie and they got what they hoped for. Last month, HBO Max announced that many of the movie’s original cast, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, will return for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which is set to premiere on January 1.

Director Chris Columbus will appear on the anniversary special, along with several other stars including Tom Felton, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Alfred Enoch, Evanna Lynch, and Matthew Lewis.

Return to Hogwarts will feature behind-the-scenes clips that will take viewers on a spectacular journey through the development of every Harry Potter movie.
