Neighbours Spoilers: Australian Soap Resumes Production

“Neighbours,” an Australian soap opera, resumes production after it was shut down due to fears concerning the coronavirus pandemic. Its producer is proud to say that different practices will be followed as they film new scenes, which make sure that they will be following the government’s health and safety guidelines.

The Australian TV and movie industry went on a temporary hiatus after productions were halted to prevent the spread of COVID-19. About 119 movies and TV shows were shut down as the country continue to see a rise in coronavirus cases.

Fremantle Media Plans New Production Safety Practices

“(On Monday) we returned from a scheduled production break, originally two weeks that we extended to three weeks to give our production team time to refine our production model to meet the gov’t guidelines re. health & safety and social distancing. We will be filming with a small unit this Thursday and then full production resumes Monday,” Fremantle Media said.

“Neighbours” producer, Fremantle is committed to keeping its cast and crew safe while they continue filming new episodes for their viewers.

“Due to the style of our show and the vast size of our production studios and backlot, we realized we are in a position to resume filming in a way that protects everyone’s health and still delivers the ‘Neighbours’ viewers know and love.”

Safety of Cast and Crew Remains Top Priority

Each and everyone who will be at work will practice social distancing. They will be spread out and only a few people will be in a setting for any given time. The production sites have been divided into three areas.

There will be one control area where no crew crossover will take place, allowing them to easily trace in case someone gets infected. They’ll also make sure that nothing will seem out of place when episodes are aired through creative editing and new camera positions.

Fremantle emphasized that they have worked closely on the plan. They have special measures for older employees and can make further adjustments if necessary. They also pointed out that no one from the cast and the crew have been forced to return especially if they are not comfortable working under these circumstances.

“Communication and collaboration are key. The response has been overwhelmingly positive with everyone keen to work and produce the show we all love so much,” a spokesperson from Fremantle Media said.
