Royal Family news shows Queen Elizabeth may recently have had a difficult bout with her health, but the 95-year-old Monarch was very strong in her statements shared via video for the COP26 climate summit. Speaking from the White Drawing room at Windsor Castle, she discussed the impact of climate change on future generations. However, she was clear to mention her late, beloved husband, Prince Philip, who she lost back in April.
What does the Queen of England have to say?
Royal Family News – Queen Elizabeth Speaks To The COP26 Climate Summit
On Monday evening, Queen Elizabeth spoke to the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, Scotland. Due to health concerns, she spoke via video, from the comfort of Windsor Castle, where she has been taking it easy. Although she was ordered by the royal physicians to rest for two weeks, she clearly felt it was important to speak on this subject that was so near and dear to her late husband’s heart.
Sitting next to a beautiful photo of her late husband amongst a gathering of butterflies, she stated “The impact of the environment on human progress was a subject close to the heart of my dear late husband.” According to People, she was wearing a butterfly brooch, over her green dress, that she received as a wedding gift nearly 74 years ago. Had the Duke lived, the couple would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on November 20.
Seeming to channel her late husband, she reminded the leaders “If we fail to cope with this challenge, all the other problems will pale into insignificance.” Most importantly, she asked them to put politics aside and to look at the big picture. “I, for one, hope that this conference will be one of those rare occasions where everyone will have the chance to rise above the politics of the moment and achieve true statesmanship.”
The Monarch Discussed Her Son, Grandson’s Dedication To The Environment
Besides talking about Prince Philip, the Queen also mentioned her son, Prince Charles, and her grandson, Prince William, the first two in line for the throne. “It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet lives on through the work of our eldest son, Charles, and his eldest son, William. I could not be more proud of them.”
She continued to look to the youth for their energy and drive to find a solution. “Indeed, I have drawn great comfort and inspiration from the relentless enthusiasm of people of all ages – especially the young – in calling for everyone to play their part.”

The Queen Reminds People That ‘None Of Us Will Live Forever’
The Queen made a point that this is for a future we will not be a part of. In a statement that is more significant during this difficult period of the worldwide pandemic, as well as the concern for her health, her message was more powerful.
“Of course, the benefits of such actions will not be there to enjoy for all of us here today: we none of us will live forever. But we are doing this not for ourselves but for our children and our children’s children, and those who will follow in their footsteps.”
