Currently, there is a $500,000 lawsuit between the estate of Billy Brown and his business partner, Robert Maughon. Let’s take a closer look at what is going on.
The Final Goodbye
This past week, the Discovery Channel announced that it would no longer be filming Alaskan Bush People. Of course, fans of the Brown family are pretty sad to hear this news.
There were a lot of hints from the Brown children about being back on television, but clearly those were all just rumors.
Not only did fans hear this sad news, but news of the lawsuit came out as well. Robert did file a breach of contract against the Alaskan Wilderness Family Productions, which was the business owned by Billy Brown and now his children.
He filed the lawsuit just months after Billy passed away and now his family is dealing with it in the best way that they can.

The Hearing
During one of the hearings for the lawsuit, Ami Brown testified that there was no reason for the family to pay the lawsuit since there will not be any other seasons of the show.
She said that the show had come to an end and Billy would no longer be on it, so why would they have to pay the lawsuit?
One statement read, “These braces occurred despite the significant profits generated by Alaskan Wilderness Family Productons, particularly through the television series Alaskan Bush People which was featured on the Discovery Channel network.”
Alaskan Bush People is no longer one of the Discovery Channel’s properties and it seems that Maughon is concerned about the way Billy handled business, not the network.

He claims that in 2009, there was a dael made with Billy promising a payout when the show made money. Apparently, he never received any type of payment.
We will continue to keep an eye on this lawsuit to see what happens and if there is any money paid out or if this will be put to rest.
