The American Idol judge tried to avoid interacting with the audience. She was “glued to her phone” as she “coldly ignored” them.

An onlooker observed Katy Perry’s behavior during the Monday, April 29 live taping. During the episode, fans watched all eight contestants perform for their lives.

Katy wore her heart on her sleeve for much of the live show. She cried during one of the performances. However, she acted more chilly behind the scenes.

An insider told The U.S. Sun that Katy pulled out her phone during each commercial break. She turned her body toward the crowd, but “completely ignored” them.

“It was off-putting to see how she was so into her phone and ignored fans who were shouting her name,” the insider told The U.S. Sun. “Fans shouted, ‘Katy! Katy!’ and, ‘We love you, Katy!’ and if anything, she would quickly turn around to glance at them, but went back to texting.”

Katy Perry couldn’t have been bothered to interact with the live audience. She refused to take photos or sign autographs.

Her fellow coaches Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were “very engaging” with the crowd. They stood up from the table to sign posters or merchandise.

Katy only got up from her seat once to sign a note card. Toward the end of the live show, she “finally caved in and walked to three different groups in the audience to take selfies.” She also got up to take a group photo with her fellow judges.

American Idol Judge – Hands Out Freebies

Katy Perry fans got a surprise at one point during the show. She handed out freebies to the crowd. This happened after half of the audience stood for over three hours.

“During one break she was going through her box of goodies that was underneath the judge’s table and she took some treats and threw them into the audience,” the insider revealed. “It looked like she threw a bag of popcorn, and then a bag of Sour Patch Kids, and then a chocolate bar.”

Katy had her eye on a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. She opened the bag and snacked on the chips before host Ryan Seacrest returned from the break. The onlooker also revealed that Luke and Lionel got their makeup done more than Katy did.
