According to a new report, producers of American Idol are looking for a new musician who could replace Luke Bryan. They want to shake up the panel even further.

Country singer Jelly Roll is joining Season 22 as a guest mentor. Producers think he would be the perfect person to replace Luke.

“It’s doubtful Luke will continue on Idol after this season, so they’re bringing Jelly on to test the waters and see how viewers react,” an alleged source told the National Inquirer. “Their only worry is that Jelly is such a sweet guy, he won’t have the heart to be brutally honest in critiquing a contestant — but he would instantly make the show hotter and more relevant.”

American Idol producers are looking to replace the judges with fresh talent. Tori Kelly and Jelly Roll will serve as mentors when they show films in Hawaii. All three judges have been with the show since 2018.

Luke Bryan almost left the show in 2022. He wanted to tour the nation and spend more time with his wife and their kids.

On Monday, February 12, Katy Perry announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she was leaving the show.

She thought it was the perfect time since she’s headlining the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil in September. Katy hinted that she wants to go back to making and performing music.

“This fall, in September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio,” Katy told host Jimmy Kimmel. “So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.”

She admitted to Jimmy that she hadn’t told her fellow judges yet. This came as a surprise to them. The singer wants to leave her position as judge to have another baby with her fiance Orlando Bloom. She also hopes to release another album and tour.
