Bachelorette Star James McCoy Taylor Arrested In Texas with Impaired Female Freshman

James McCoy Taylor who, you’ll remember, starred on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette was arrested and released on a $7,000 bond Saturday according to Narcity Houston. Read on and we’ll give you the low down.

Bachelorette – Both Parties Impaired

The Bachelorette star was arrested on September 10, in College Station, a Texas town known for its numerous colleges, for driving under the influence and unlawfully carrying a weapon. A police report obtained by KBTX reveals that he was not alone in the vehicle.

There was also an 18-year-old “college freshman companion” sitting in the passenger seat of the reality TV star’s F-150. She was also reportedly “impaired.” The 36-year-old reality TV veteran and Katy, Texas native, told a police officer that he had met the college student at the town’s “party street,” Northgate, and had planned to drive the girl back to her dorm.

Bachelorette – James McCoy Taylor Violates Officer’s Order

According to KBTX, Taylor was busted urinating near his truck when a police officer advised him against it and “further advised James not to drive the Ford F150.” Taylor assured the cop that he wouldn’t drive the vehicle and would find other means of transportation. However, according to the report, Taylor returned to his truck a moment after the exchange and drove away.

College Station police were later informed, and an officer soon found Taylor driving toward the exit gate. According to the arrest report, Taylor claimed that he was only trying to move his truck to a different spot in the parking garage to find better cell phone service.

Bachelorette – Glassy Eyes, Slurred Speech

According to police, officers had to reach inside his truck to turn off the ignition and direct the Bachelorette star to exit his vehicle along with his tipsy young passenger. Taylor was described, by officers, as having “glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol. They said that he stood before them swaying back and forth.

At the time Taylor reportedly admitted to officers that he’s been drinking at Northgate and had consumed a total of six drinks during his time there which lasted from 10 PM CST Friday to 1 AM CST Saturday.

Bachelorette  – I’m Innocent!

Following standard field sobriety tests Taylor was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. During the arrest, police say Taylor became verbally abusive to the officer, threatening to press charges and have the officer fired.

Police also found a handgun in Taylor’s truck which is unlawful to carry in Texas while a criminal offense is being committed. In this case, that was driving while intoxicated.

Taylor, for his part, soon took to Instagram to share his side of the story in a lengthy caption. In it, he admitted that he peed by his truck, claimed that he passed all the sobriety tests, the gun belonged to his “dad,” and said that he “assumed” his passenger was 21.
