Josh Duggar, formerly of 19 Kids and Counting, reportedly had 82 days added to his 12.5-year sentence for CSAM offenses. His new release date is now December 23, 2032. The extension, along with his removal from a “model inmate” honors dorm, suggests disciplinary action, possibly due to another cell phone infraction.
Disciplinary Actions & Privileges
The former TLC alum was already severely disciplined for possessing an illegal phone and he did time in SHU for it. So, TLC fans were astounded when they heard that he was moved to an easy-going dorm. The latest news came from Katie Joy on Without A Crystal Ball on YouTube this week. It was also reported by The Sun US and Katie credited them with the the breaking news.

According to Katie Joy, Josh had “82 days added to his sentence” pushing “his new release date” to “December 23rd of 2032.” The extension and his removal from a specialized “honors dorm” suggest disciplinary action, possibly linked to having a cell phone.
Disciplinary Actions and Loss of Privileges
The vlogger explained that “if cell phones are found, what happens is the individual that has the cell phone or is using the cell phone ends up being disciplined.” Discipline for federal inmates can range from being put into the segregation housing unit to having “time added on to their sentence,” or restrictions on commissary and visitation.
The honors dorm, known as Unit 6 at the low-security Seagoville facility in Texas, offered privileges like “washers and dryers, microwaves, and more.”
Katie Joy noted that “most inmates don’t get access to their own laundry” or microwaves. To qualify for this dorm, inmates must maintain “good behavior,” have a job, and “sign a code of conduct agreement.” Well, allegedly, he lost all of those special privileges, including air-conditioning.
What Happened?
If Josh Duggar had a cell-phone, then as a second-time offender, no wonder he got severely disciplined. Katie Joy speculated that his removal from the “specialty dorm” means “he’s no longer a model prisoner.” She added, “I don’t think he ever really was.”
Continued misbehavior could lead to further transfers. Did you know that? According to Katie, if inmates “have so many disciplinary actions within a specific amount of time, they can actually be moved from a low security facility into like a medium security or even to a max security if necessary.”
Not Fixable?
The popular vlogger noted that prosecutors in Duggar’s original case had predicted his behavior, arguing that “he was for all intents and purposes someone that could never be reformed.” They believed “he would never take responsibility for what he’s done.”
Additionally, they doubted that the TLC alum would participate in rehabilitation programs that require admitting guilt. Actually, his brother-in-law, Derick Dillard predicted much the same thing. If he had a phone again, then it is serious because his sentencing included strict limitations on “internet access” and “any cell phones that can contain data or store data or have electronic use where you can look at videos and download the internet access.”
Katie Joy felt in her opinion, that “the judge’s sentence was a misjustice to all of the victims,” believing “it should have been so much more.”
Fans React
TLC fan took to the comments section to discuss the alleged new offence. One of them wrote, “Child sex offenders should never, never, be given privileges as model inmates! That is an oxymoron!”
Here are a few more reactions:
- I know this is bad but I hope he is caught with anything that will add additional YEARS to his sentence. He’s a dangerous man who should NEVER get out.
- Those of us who suffer with the memories of being SA’d by family, know these types NEVER change.
- his all goes back to his parents…. He has never accepted accountability and does not have the ability to admit his wrongdoings. He will always be in trouble…
