Josh Duggar took his appeal to the Supreme Court. The Counting On star is serving time for obtaining and retrieving child pornography. He was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison. Many members of his Duggar family spoke out against him.
However, some maintain that he’s innocent. Josh’s wife, Anna Duggar, still supports him. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have quietly helped their eldest son with the legal expenses. There’s an update on the appeal that he brought to the Supreme Court. Read on to learn more.
Josh Duggar – Files New Appeal
In February 2024, Josh Duggar filed a certiorari to the Supreme Court. This requests the higher court to review this decision before the lower court.
It also states that Josh should allow Caleb Williams as an alternate suspect instead of him. Josh doesn’t want to accept blame for obtaining and receiving child pornography.
Many Counting On fans on Reddit reacted to the news of his petition. They had their doubts that Josh’s appeal would reach the Supreme Court. They believe that Jim Bob was wasting money on his legal problems. Here are just some of the comments from the thread:
“Ya know… The Bible talks a lot about accountability, but I guess those wisdom booklet lessons were missed,” one fan joked.
“Stupid waste of time and money. His case is not novel nor were his rights violated. The Caleb Williams argument is so weak, that it’s laughable. The lower court did allow them to put him on the stand. The court merely told him they could not bring up Caleb’s past convictions,” another user noted.
Josh Duggar – Receives Response From Supreme Court
In a separate Reddit thread, there was a reaction to the Supreme’s response to Josh Duggar’s certiorari. The government rejected the former 19 Kids and Counting star’s appeal.
They also slammed Josh’s argument involving Caleb Williams. This response could “immortalize” his prison time.
“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. All that money and denial. I am waiting patiently for other skeletons to fall out of the prayer closet at this point,” one fan wrote.
“How do you think Pest and J’Boob will feel about that? File another appeal of course,” mused another fan.
“So is that end of the appeals process then?” asked a third user.
