Kate Gosselin Reacts To Son Collin’s ‘Abusive’ Parenting Claims

Kate Gosselin just reacted to shocking claims made in the Vice TV show Dark Side Of The 2000s. Because of an episode featuring her ex-husband Jon Gosselin and some of their children, Kate felt unfairly portrayed. And one of the offspring not in that show, Mady, sided with her mother.

Kate Gosselin Reveals Son Collin’s ‘Multiple Psychiatric Diagnoses’

In the Vice TV show Dark Side Of The 2000s, Jon Gosselin joined his son Collin to call out Kate Gosselin. But in the wake of their claims that Kate didn’t treat Collin fairly, her daughter Mady defended her mom. And now Kate has told People why she sides with her daughter Mady.

The 48-year-old reality TV alum shared that she “never wanted to have to do this. But I feel I have been backed into a corner and left with no choice,” added Kate. And she shared that her son Collin “received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years. For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility following years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs.”

However, in the episode of Dark Side of the 2000s focusing on the Gosselin family, Jon claimed he spent $1 million to get Collin out of treatment. And Kate’s ex also alleged that Collin didn’t have any diagnosed medical problems other than ADHD. But Collin himself shared, “It’s unfortunate that that’s how my mom, you know, phrased me as a person. You know, I don’t see those things.”

Jon Gosselin Defends Son Collin

Collin recently graduated from high school and hopes to enlist in the Marines. But he claimed that other family members cut their ties with him. And the 19-year-old also alleged that Kate behaved in an abusive way.

However, Kate shared that she placed Collin in a facility based on “emergency room doctors following one of his many attacks/outbursts — this one involving his use of a weapon. Fast forward to the present day, and following Jon’s removal of Collin from treatment, my son’s unpredictable and violent behavior has sadly continued regularly towards Jon, Hannah and others around him. Collin’s distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues that he has always struggled with.”

And Kate also claimed that “Collin remains a very troubled young man who continues to need a lot of help. His brothers and sisters and I have not been directly involved in his life due to his history of unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies towards us. What his sister Mady posted on social media recently is completely accurate,” added Kate. “And I deeply appreciate her bravery in doing so.”

Jon and Kate share 22-year-old Mady and Cara as well as sextuplets Hannah, Collin, Alexis, Aaden, Leah and Joel. And in an episode of Dark Side of the 2000s, titled “Jon & Kate Plus 8: Family Circus,” Collin alleged that Kate’s “abusive” behavior stemmed from her TV fame. “I don’t know who my mom was before TV,” he added. “But I think she was a different person. I think she has a good heart and she has good intentions,” claimed Collin. “But TV and fame and money changes people.”

However, Mady, 22, spoke out to defend her mother. And she denied Collin’s claims. “I do not owe my allegiance to any person(s) who has physically threatened me and every member of my immediate family (some incidents as recent as last year). Further, I will never allow someone who has exhibited hateful and even violent behavior toward others based on their racial identity, gender identity, or religious beliefs to be in my life. Kindness, tolerance, love, and acceptance are core values in my life and I refuse to compromise them for ANYONE, even my brother Collin, who has unfortunately made his opinions very clear in private.”
