Family is pretty important to the Chrisleys, especially now that there’s a chance that their parents could be locked away for years. Even their estranged son Kyle is drawing closer to the family upon receiving the news that the reality star couple, Todd and Julie Chrisley, have been found guilty of evading taxes.

Todd, 53, and Julie have decided to appeal the case after maintaining and pleading innocent during the entirety of the case.

In January, they will still be reporting to prison despite their appeal, which will continue as they serve their sentence. In November, the couple was found guilty and sentenced for fraud, with Todd receiving a 12-year sentence and a 16-month probation and his wife, Julie, receiving 7 years with 16 months of probation.

While the family went through this very public disgrace, the pain and the challenges helped bring them closer together.

“I think inevitably whenever you go through something hard, no matter what that may be, we’ve gone through divorce, the legal stuff, all of these things. I think that you gravitate towards what you know,” Lindsie, the Southern Tea podcast host, 33, said. “You band together and stand together when times do get tough. That is family.”

Lindsie continued, “I do think in some ways it, for sure, has brought us closer together. But I would’ve wished that it would’ve been for other reasons and not this.”

With the public criticisms and the threat of prison facing their parents if they lose their appeal, the 33-year-old acknowledged that they’re learning to adjust to their “new normal.”

“I have always had faith in our criminal justice system, but watching my parents and how all of this played out, this case completely destroyed any faith that I had in the criminal justice system,” she said, adding that there’s “so many different things that just cause you to truly shake your head in disbelief.”

However, her parents are remaining optimistic about receiving justice at the end of the day.
