Tiger King News – Police Releases Details Concerning Jeff Johnson’s Suicide
Jeff Johnson, known to Netflix’s “Tiger King” fans as a reptile dealer, has been confirmed dead at 58 by the Oklahoma City Police.
Johnson shot himself in the head following an argument with his wife in their home’s garage on Sept. 8.
Per the reports obtained by PEOPLE, Johnson shot himself in front of his wife, and police have stated that their children were home at the time of the incident.
The report explained that Johnson’s wife immediately called 911. When local authorities arrived at the scene, they confirmed that he still had a pulse. However, he was pronounced dead upon arriving at a local hospital.

The reptile dealer is best known for making a brief appearance in the Netflix series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”. He spoke about animal-rights activist Carole Baskin in the first season of the series which premiered in 2020.
The Netflix docuseries was able to draw in a large number of viewers when it launched at the start of the pandemic last year.
It documented the Oklahoma big cat zoo operated by Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage. In April 2019, Maldonado-Passage was found guilty of two murder-for-hire plot to kill his biggest rival, Carole Baskin.
In 2020, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison for that and other crimes, which included killing tigers to make room for more big cats at his animal park.
Tiger King News – Jeff Johnson Died Just A Few Days After Fellow “Tiger King” Star Erik Cowie died.
Cowie died on Sept. 3 from acute and chronic alcohol use in his Brooklyn, New York apartment. Authorities deemed his manner of death natural.
Prior to his death, Cowie worked alongside Joe Exotic as one of the zoo-keepers at the ill-fated G.W. Exotic Animal Memorial Park in Wynnewood. He was among those who testified against Joe Exotic in the case.
Netflix recently won a lawsuit filed by Carole Baskin over including footage of her in their trailer for the “Tiger King” sequel.
“Tiger King 2” premiered on Wednesday, Nov. 17 on Netflix. Meanwhile, Carole released a two-part documentary special “Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight” Nov. 13 on discovery+.
