Sister Wives: A Throwback Of Robyn’s Wedding Clip Recounts How The ‘Slap In The Face’ And ‘Favoritism’ Started

Sister Wives stars Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, And Meri Brown all shared one reason in common as to why they quit their marriage with Kody Brown. It all boils down to Kody’s favoritism with his last and only remaining wife Robyn Brown.

Recently, Christine and Janelle revisited an old clip featuring the wedding of Kody and Robyn and shared in an exclusive clip obtained by PEOPLE for Sunday’s “Sister Wives Look Back: How It Started,” special that Robyn’s wedding preparation to Kody brought about the first “slap in the face” to them.

The two women both agreed that watching Kody get excited about Robyn’s wedding dress made them aware that Kody loves Robyn more than them. They all compared it to how he was nonchalant during their own wedding preparations. The Brown patriarch on the other hand shared that he never really wanted to marry Christine from the get-go.

The clip featured a throwback of Kody in a confessional, telling the viewers, “Robyn and I went and looked at dresses and she picked one out and I was like, ‘Holy cow.’ It’s like I’d seen it in my dreams, you know?” Christine couldn’t help rolling her eyes at Kody’s remark while saying it was “not cool” and a “slap in the face.”

Hearing Christine’s response to what they both watched, Janelle said, “I wasn’t even really emotionally involved with any of the dresses, but it’s just weird. And then all of a sudden, it was this thing we had all done together — like the women — and then here’s Kody saying, ‘Oh well, it wasn’t really for real.’ It took me back. It was really quite funny ’cause [Kody was] so excited.”

Kody, who was also watching the clip from the present day, said, “Meri made her dress. Janelle didn’t wear a wedding dress for our wedding. And Christine was just throwing together a wedding and I was living a long way away from her with a family,” he went on to add, “My involvement in seeing a dress that was going to work for Robyn incited some kind of jealousy in Christine that was irrational.”

He also revealed that he already “knew what I wanted her to wear from the very beginning” and doesn’t understand why his wives were dress shopping without him when he “wanted to be involved.” He then proceeded to say, “The problem with the whole experience that I had with Christine was I didn’t really want to be married to her.”
