Sister Wives Star Christine Brown Unchains Herself From Being A “Basement Wife”

Sister Wives spoilers, news, and updates tease that Christine Brown talked about how she uncaged herself from a miserable marriage and as a “basement wife.”

Christine Brown has been married to her now ex-husband, Kody Brown, with whom she shared six children. With all the challenges they have encountered as a couple, Christine announced their split last November 2021 and decided to reside in Utah.

During “Sister Wives” Tell-All, Christine sat down with the host, Sukanya Krishnan, and opened up about how she concluded the pain she endured during her polygamous marriage with Kody.

Sister Wifes – Christine Brown Expresses Thoughts About Being A “Basement Wife”

Christine explained that the polygamy community has a “queen wife,” which she revealed that she never once felt to be that kind of wife but the one who remained in the basement that everybody’s needs came before hers.

“I put myself in the basement and became a basement wife. I just feel like I stopped having a choice and I didn’t really matter as much,” she said.

Christine admitted that she doesn’t have any idea about “basement wife” and just let herself be vulnerable, until one day, she got tired of the situation and decided to be the “peacemaker” of the family.

The mother-of-six realized that she was getting drained by putting everyone else’s needs first than hers, like being the guardian of Meri and Janelle’s children while the moms were working. Christine once approached Kody for help but rejected the idea saying that she’s “just changing all the agreements.”

With her decision of leaving Kody Brown behind after more than 25 years of being together, Christine Brown was aware that somebody will be hurt by the idea.

When Sukanya Krishnan mentioned how “sad” Robyn Brown was after knowing the divorce, Christine declared that breaking people’s hearts was not an ideal thing to do.

“But I knew I was making a decision that would break hearts and it tore me apart. And it was super, super sad,” she continued. Even though she felt crushed with her decision, Christine still made up her mind to end her relationship with Kody.

Meanwhile, Robyn Brown wished that Kody and Christine would still work things out together as a couple. She also believed that the two were not “technically” divorced even after the announcement of their split.
