Following the victory, the family’s attorney released a statement explaining what the victory could mean for the reality star couple.

Why Todd And Julie Chrisley Launched A Lawsuit Against Joshua Waites

After being cleared of their state tax evasion charge in Georgia, the couple launched a lawsuit against Joshua Waites in Oct. 19, accusing him of “specifically targeting” them in their state tax evasion charge.

In the lawsuit, the reality star’s former lawyer Michael J. Bowers accused Waites’ of bring “shocking” charges against Todd and Julie.

He called the move “a shocking example of how an out-of-control public servant can abuse his office and violate the rights of innocent citizens for reasons that have more to do with securing publicity and money for his office than with enforcing the law.”

The lawsuit further alleged that Waites began to focus his thoughts on the family several years ago and even targeted members of the family, such as Todd’s estranged daughter Lindsie, in order to gain access to the family’s financial records.
