Vanderpump Rules Scores Emmy Nomination!

Bravo producer Andy Cohen and Vanderpump Rules exec producer Alex Baskin recently shared what it took to capture the drama of Tom Sandoval cheating on Ariana Madix. Because Tom and Ariana had remained together for nearly a decade, the betrayal stunned and fascinated fans. And it made the scandal even more outrageous when news broke that Sandoval’s affair was with Ariana’s best friend Raquel Leviss. As a result of the news, Bravo picked up its cameras again and extended filming for season 10.

And now the work paid off. Vanderpump Rules just got its first nomination for an Emmy Award. And it will compete in the unstructured reality category. Vanderpump Rules’ competition includes “Deadliest Catch,” “Life Below Zero,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked,” and “Welcome To Wrexham,.” according to Variety.

But both Cohen and Baskin shared that they faced challenges in filming the drama. And friendships fell apart on the show. For instance, Raquel filed for a restraining order on her former best friend and co-star Scheana Shay. Leviss claimed that Shay punched her. But Raquel’s former BFF denied it, saying, “I may be a pusher — I’m not a puncher.”

Vanderpump Rules Fans React To Emmy Nod

Fans of the show credited the Vanderpump Rules cast members at the heart of the scandal: Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, and Raquel Leviss. For instance, one fan tweeted, “Everyone say thank you Raquel!” And another one posted on social media, “Everyone can thank Raquel and Sandoval.” But some thought that producers scripted some of the drama, even insisting that the show got nominated in the wrong category. However, whether unscripted or scripted, viewers couldn’t stay away.

For instance, the first reunion episode of Vanderpump Rules season 10 attracted 4.6 million viewers. As a result of on-demand viewers, those who watched live, and those who streamed it on Peacock, the episode became the most-viewed Bravo episode in nine years. And that first reunion episode also ranked as the most-watched episode of Vanderpump Rules in the show’s history. Overall, the season attracted 11.4 million viewers on average.
