Todd & Julie Chrisley – Rejects Plea Deal
On August 14, 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley appeared in court in Atlanta. They plead not guilty to tax evasion and bank fraud. Earlier this year, they surrendered to the police and entered prison.
Prior to their sentencing, the Chrisleys filed a lawsuit against the director of the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Office of Special Investigations. They’re also appealing the charges against them.
However, some have to wonder why they didn’t take a plea deal. It’s unsure why they didn’t take the plea deal. It’s most likely that the Chrisleys believe they’re not guilty. Even their daughter Savannah Chrisley has been fighting on their behalf.
Instead, they’re blaming the Federal government and the justice system. Their excuse is that someone had a vendetta against them because they were a wealthy family on reality television.
The Chrisleys aren’t happy to have everything taken away from them. They’ve been working on everything imaginable just so they could get out of jail sooner. However, they should’ve just taken the plea deal instead.
Celebrities Show Examples Of Plea Deals
In December 2022, Joe Giudice addressed Todd and Julie Chrisley’s tax fraud case. He told People that they should “have taken the plea deal.” The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is baffled as to why the couple didn’t take the offer. Joe believes they have no fight in this battle.
“I’m assuming they probably gave him a plea deal for, like, 48 months, something like that,” Joe told People. “Something like I got, all right? So, you get 36 months out of that, on good time and all that, and then you get the drug programs, alcohol programs, and all that, you get even less time.”
Joe and his ex-wife Teresa Giudice were convicted of the same crimes. Instead of denying the charges, they got their plea deal and did their sentencing so they could move on with their lives.
One fan noted on the Chrisley Knows Prison subreddit that even President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden took a plea deal to avoid prison time.
