Honey Boo Boo’s Father To Check Into Lamar Odom Rehab

Child reality star Honey Boo Boo’s father, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson is reportedly headed to rehab this week. Thompson, who TLC fans know as the dad of Alana Thompson, will be seeking help for an addiction to prescription drugs. Sugar Bear will seek treatment former NBA star, Lamar Odom’s treatment facility in Kansas.

Honey Boo Boo’s father is said to have become addicted to prescription drugs when he began taking medication for his diabetes, according to TMZ. Thompson also suffers from depression and anxiety. The 51-year-old is said to currently be estranged from his daughter but hopes after he gets the help he needs the two may be able to repair their troubled relationship.

Sugar Bear reportedly did not attend her high school graduation with the pair having sparse contact for more than a year. Honey Boo Boo was also estranged from her mother Mama June for sometime with the two now working on their strained relationship.

Sugar Bear Thompson has chosen to get help through Lamar Odom’s treatment facility as the two share the same manager. The reality TV personality and former pro athlete met each other last year, becoming friends.

Lamar Odom currently runs the Odom Recovery Group which was created after the former Laker’s star almost died due to an overdose. The group features a number of wellness centers and recovery homes across the country.

It was also last year that the former partner of Mama June, Honey Boo Boo’s mother, underwent a dramatic make over that included a hair transplant and cosmetic surgery. Mike Thompson no longer looked like himself and shared how great the transformation made him feel.

Mike Thompson underwent the transformation following a cancer scare. “I haven’t stopped looking in the mirror,” he said in a statement at the time. “I don’t recognize the man in the mirror.” Sugar Bear Thompson went on to add, I never thought I could have a smile I would be proud of, and I really love the Botox because I look a lot younger.”
