Earlier this month Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria, 43, tested positive for Covid-19, alongside Prince Daniel, 47, according to royal reports. The couple went into quarantine on 9th March after Victoria developed cold symptoms and was tested positive for the coronavirus on 10th March. According to reports from the Royal Court, she and her husband are “experiencing mild symptoms but feel well under the circumstances.”

Crown Princess Victoria is the heir apparent to the throne of Sweden and will ascend the throne after the death of her father King Carl XVI Gustaf who has ruled for almost 50 years. She will be the first female to rule Sweden since 1720 if she assumes the throne as planned. She has two children Princess Estelle, 9 and Prince Oscar, 5.
Princess Victoria celebrated the start of the World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm, from Hugo Palace on Thursday. It was her first virtual public appearance since testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this month. A few royal duties have been previously cancelled due to her contracting the virus. She’s quarantining at the palace with her husband and two kids.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am so proud that our beautiful capital gets to host the World Figure Skating Championships,” she says in the video, which also aired at the competition’s opening ceremony. She was wearing a light blue jacket over a white blouse and the castle’s beautiful interiors, crystal chandelier and gold chairs could be glimpsed in the video. “I really wish that I could have been in the Ericsson Globe Arena tonight for the grand opening ceremony. But I am glad to have this opportunity to send you all my best wishes.”
“Just like millions of other viewers, all over the world, my family and I are looking forward to seeing the world’s best figure skaters compete here in Stockholm.”
She rounded out her message by wishing all the participants and volunteers the best of luck for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021.
Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel were also formerly meant to join her parents, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, at a memorial service, thrown in the honor of the anniversary of the first COVID-19 death in Sweden on Thursday.
Victoria’s brother Prince Carl-Philip and sister-in-law Princess Sofia, who have also previously tested positive for the novel coronavirus in November and are currently expecting their third child, attended the event in their place.

Sweden’s handling Of The Pandemic
Victoria’s father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, 74, rebuffed the country in its handling of the pandemic in a Christmas broadcast, saying that the country has failed and that “a large number have died, and that is terrible.”
Sweden’s lockdown was much different than what many European countries did to curb and control the spread of the coronavirus, and instead of a total lockdown, they implemented a partial lockdown with measures that are to be taken voluntarily.
“The people of Sweden have suffered tremendously in difficult conditions,” the Swedish monarch continued. “One thinks of all the family members who have happened to be unable to say goodbye to their deceased family members. I think it is a tough and traumatic experience not to be able to say a warm goodbye.”
