Harry & Meghan, the Netflix docuseries aired Part 1, and Part 2 drops this week. The show that covered their love story also revealed a lot of other aspects of life in the royal family. On the surface of it, there’s not a lot added to what is already known: royals get massive media attention. If you remove the toxic bits about The Firm, it seemed rather sweet. But it’s hard to move beyond the controversy of their allegations.
Harry & Meghan – The Love Story & Princess Di
The opening of the documentary series showed flashes of Princess Diana and how she was hounded constantly by the media. So, it seemed like a nightmare for her when the kids were around. Clearly, it was traumatic for the kids, especially Harry. One clip revealed Princess Diana saying, “please leave us alone I brought the boys here to get away.” Naturally, when her youngest son fell in love, he didn’t wish it on his own wife and family.
Harry & Meghan emphasized how Harry lost his mom so young in those years when he really needed her. In fact, the divorce probably shook the kids and then they ended up having to deal with the death of Di. According to Prince Harry, he was instructed to “go out and shake everyone’s hands [and] don’t show any emotions.” Fans might understand why Harry said, “this was very difficult to comprehend.” Clearly, the media attention made him afraid, and his worst fears came true when he fell in love with Meghan Markle.
Harry & Meghan – A Sweet Love Story
Buried under all the noxious bits about the royal family, a sweet love story emerged that was hardly likely to shake the world. The show revealed that they first saw each other in the flesh at Wimbledon. When Harry reflected on that, he mentioned finding an amusing video of Meghan Markle on his Instagram. So, he slid into her DMs, presumably, and she replied. Actually, their texting back and forth might have been a good segment on TLC’s 90 Day Fiance.
Off went the Harry & Meghan star to meet up with her beaux-to-be, carefully sitting opposite the royal box at Wimbledon so he could feast his eyes on her. Later, they met up for dinner, and typically, she arrived late. Anyway, it all went well and they decided on another date. And that led him to take her on a romantic trip to Botswana. Of course, famous people can’t keep a secret for long, and soon, the media started hyping it up.
Harry & Meghan without the toxic bits shows a couple who met, and had a long-distance relationship. They enjoyed a nice trip to Africa, and finally wed in an extravagant ceremony. If they had featured on 90 Day Fiance, that might have been the end of it all, except for perhaps an “After The 90 Days” spinoff.
Netflix & The Toxic Bits Hype A Sweet Love Story?
Harry & Meghan, without the toxicity towards the royal family, wouldn’t really have rocked the ratings on Netflix. Clearly, they love each other and wanted to step away from the royal limelight. Actually, there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s relatively boring for those who love drama. It seems unfortunate that the docuseries brings so much hate for the royal institution. After all, it overshadows a rather unremarkable love story.
