Could Queen Elizabeth be picking favorites for the New Year? That’s what a lot of royal fans can’t help but wonder as there’s speculation that the Queen of England might be favoring one Duchess over another. As a matter of fact, Kate Middleton is hardly seen in Queen Elizabeth II’s most memorable moments of 2018 while her sister-in-law Meghan Markle seems to make the cut and in spectacular fashion, too. Queen Elizabeth decided to highlight the royal family’s best moments of 2018 and apparently, a lot of those moments included Prince Harry’s wife and not Prince William’s. Even though Kate Middleton gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis, back in April, it’s Meghan who dominated 2018 with her royal wedding to Prince Harry, her first state trip to Australia and New Zealand, and Harry and Meghan’s numerous royal engagements and public appearances together.

Plus, ‘Meghan Markle’ mania still seems to be going quite strong in Britain and elsewhere around the world. Everything she wears seems to sell out within minutes. What’s more, fans are wanting to know everything about her pregnancy, her healthy lifestyle, and all of the ways she’s been making changes behind palace doors at Kensington Palace.

Simply put, the Duchess of Sussex has become the most popular royal in recent years so it’s no wonder that the Queen decided to feature her the most in her highlights reel.

Now, does this mean that Kate Middleton will be standing in Meghan Markle’s shadow? It’s very unlikely, considering that Kate is the future Queen of England. But it does look like she has some stiff competition here, especially when it comes to the media coverage of the royals.
