King Charles Declared “More Approachable” Than Queen Elizabeth

The mystic of the royal family may have been pulled back a little when Harry wrote his tell-all memoir and when the Prince and Princess of Wales decided to launch their very own YouTube channel, but really, it’s all part of the family evolving with the times. Not even the royal family can resist change.

We know, originally, people credited Princess Diana for making the royal family more approachable, but, according to a survey, King Charles also played a part.

It also helped that people watched him grow up. He’s dapper, he’s a great artist, he makes people laugh – Lionel Richie thought he’d make a great comedian – and he’s the people’s King, everyone… King Charles the III.

New Survey Shows Surprising Views People Have Of King Charles

A survey of 22,701 people from across 15 countries showed some surprising results of how people widely viewed the 74-year-old monarch.

King Charles Declared “More Approachable” Than Queen Elizabeth Because He Grew Up in the Public Eye

The research, which was conducted by former Conservative Party deputy chairman Lord Ashcroft, found that many saw him in a sympathetic light, feeling as if they’ve known him through his life – since his private life, frankly, is anything but private. The countries that participated in the survey were those where Charles is the head of state.

Even though they felt there was no way Charles could match the work done by his late mother, they still felt he one-upped her in one particular aspect.

The report by Lord Ashcroft read, “Despite the familiarity of the Queen, many realised that they actually knew more about King Charles than they did about his mother: ‘we’ve watched him grow up’, as several observed. They talked about his active interest in areas including conservation and the environment, farming, architecture, his stewardship of the Duchy Estate and work to spread opportunity through the Prince’s Trust.”

King Charles became the reigning monarch following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth the II, on September 8. On May 6, he was coronated at Westminster Abbey, alongside his wife Queen Camilla.
