Recently, you might have seen a number of speculative articles involving Netflix, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.
Most of them point to the streaming giant dumping them, or they talk about a falling out. Now, a big outlet added fuel to the rumor mill. Read on for more details.
Double Whammy News
In the wake of news about Tom Bower’s upcoming book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, a big name outlet also took a swipe at the couple.
It was Variety that recently published an article about Harry and Meghan’s “struggling” partnership with Netflix. Now Variety, as you know, isn’t some wannabe blogger.
A Huge Entertainment Voice
Look, the magazine’s been around for years. Certainly, they built a great reputation since the first edition dropped in 1905! Did you know that?

Well, part of the article noted:
The Sussexes’ perceived pattern of selling repackaged versions of the same story about their exit from royal life has exhausted Netflix. Their partnership may continue to taper off, and with it will Meghan and Harry’s remaining show business lifeline.
Additionally, it talked about Hollywood deals and failures. Then, when Vlogger Dan Wootton, on his Outspoken podcast, reported about it, he talked about legals beagles going in to bat for Meghan. Plus, he partly looked at the angle of insiders saying that Meghan Markle long conveyed that Hollywood is her domain.
Hollywood? Hello?
Obviously, the news found tons of responses because viewers strongly felt that neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle were ever Hollywood in the first place. So, it seems a stretch that they might try and regain a footing there. And in a way, many of them have a point.
Really, it seems that critics doubt whether Meghan Markle was ever really “Hollywood” to begin with. Notably, lots of folks hold the opinion that she only became famous because she married Harry.
One person commented, “Meghan isn’t Hollywood…never has been.”
Meanwhile, others talked about her appearance on Suits. One of them noted that her old job showed her briefly on a “Canadian TV cable show” and in a few “low budget Hallmark channel movies.”
Obviously, Prince Harry’s wife was no A-Lister at least until she met the prince. Basically, the feeling among critics seems to be that she “can’t return to Hollywood because she was never Hollywood in the first place.”
Dissed By A Top Mag
Getting dissed by Variety who cited some famous people as not exactly being kind, seems pretty harsh for the couple. Actually, whether Meghan was or wasn’t ever Hollywood in the first place probably dims beside the uncomplimentary angle that the story took.
For example, the outlet suggested that industry leaders like Ted Sarandos were “fed up” with the pair. Plus, ouch! They cited the “United Talent Agency CEO, Jeremy Zimmer” from when he said, “Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent.”
‘Time Out Time?
When Dan Wootton spoke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on his vlog, one thing he picked up on is that even the most “woke” outlets now turn on the Sussexes.
At one stage, calling Variety the “Hollywood bible,” he talked about how it seemed like a “brutal exposé.” In his opinion, he suggested that it means the entertainment industry is “calling time out” on them.
