Netflix Deal Could Force Prince Harry And Meghan To Stay In U.S. For The Next 5 Years

Much ado has been made regarding the new Netflix deal between the American media company and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. First, that’s because the sheer size of the dollar amount offered to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which is reportedly in the area of $150 Million over the course of five years is a bit unbelievable considering the couple’s lack of experience. Secondly, there are many who feel that while this could truly provide Harry and Meghan Markle with the “financial independence” they both claim to have craved for years upon end, it could also backfire in their faces.

Prince Harry and Meghan have already begun spending some of the funds, which have come in as part of their multimillion deal. For example, Harry and Meghan Markle repaid the entirety of their debt on Frogmore Cottage all in one go. There are also rumors that Prince Harry is looking to purchase beachfront property in Australia. Yet, the question looms over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s heads as to whether they will be able to make good on their end of the deal. Royal Correspondent Says Netflix Will Keep Harry Stuck in the States

With such an incredibly large payday, Prince Harry and Meghan will now be under tremendous pressure to perform. According to sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are supposed to produce family-friendly, “inspirational” programming over the next five years. Part of what Harry and Meghan Markle are to produce includes children’s shows, television series, and films. Of course, this means Prince Harry and Meghan will need to set up their own production company and begin staffing it with producers who have a record of accomplishments that they, themselves, could only wish for.

In any case, due to that pressure to perform, neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle may be doing much traveling over the next few years. That is if Meghan and Prince Harry want to stay right on top of things in order to micromanage production efforts.

As Royal correspondent Duncan Larcombe has suggested, the Netflix contract could make it impossible for Harry and Meghan Markle to go back to the UK any time soon.

In an interview with True Royalty TV, Mr. Larcombe said, “I think the Netflix deal and the news of that is by far the biggest development in the process of Harry and Meghan severing their ties with the British Royal Family.

Now that they’ve signed that they’ve got financial independence, they’ve got everything that they were striving for when they left the UK, the world they dreamed of. With those ties now it’s inconceivable that Harry and Meghan will come back to the UK in the next five years and will very possibly make it impossible for them to return as members of the Royal Family.”

Harry and Meghan Can No Longer Perform Royal Duties Of Any Kind

What Mr. Larcombe may have meant by his comments on Prince Harry and Meghan and the impossibility of them returning as members of the Royal Family is simply this: The sheer time commitment that Prince Harry and Meghan will have to make in order to honor their Netflix agreement will likely preclude any other type of commitment. That means Harry may not have time for Invictus. Meghan Markle may not have time to bang her political drums. Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle might have the time or energy to focus on anything whatsoever except their new Netflix deal.

Even if Harry and Meghan were able to fly across the pond to visit family (assuming they wanted to) they probably wouldn’t be able to engage in any Royal business. Thus, as a fan suggested on social media: “Enough already! Now that they (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) are under contract to Netflix they cannot resume any kind of official role within the Royal Family. The best thing for all concerned would be to give up all their titles completely and then they can do as they want.”
