When it comes to those who are in the “I’ve written a memoir” club, Meghan Markle is not there yet, but rumors suggest she’s planning to enter that elite club soon. And why not? Her husband Prince Harry is a member.
With Scobie’s book already setting the foundations for Meghan’s memoir with the alleged royal racists naming, everyone wants to know whether she would actually put pen to paper and work on her own memoir.
She might have spent two years with the Royal Family, but if she’s determined, she can milk it forever.
Omid Scobie On Why A Meghan Markle Memoir Is A Bad Idea
We’re literally living in the golden age of memoirs. Once upon a time, the road seemed to be taken by declining celebrities or those looking to grab some quick cash.
Just like the Vegas residencies caught fire, everyone wants to write a memoir these days. And if Britney Spears can write a memoir, why can’t I?
Well, I might be able to write a memoir should I choose – mind you, I doubt anyone would care to read it – but Meghan Markle shouldn’t. At least that’s what her close journo friend thinks.
According to Omid Scobie, Meghan, 42, is not the type to want to be an open book or get really vulnerable with others.
He told News Week: “To gain the respect of the reader, you have to be completely human in your portrayal, transparent in your portrayal of yourself. It has to be candid, it has to be embarrassing in places, it has to be all of these things to be the true portrait of a human being rather than the varnished image of a public figure that wants to be seen in a certain way.”
He continued: “And it’s why I think his [Harry’s] book would always be more interesting than say if Megan wrote a memoir, because I think Megan has a much more curated take on what her image is and how it should be. Harry has always been a very candid, candid man.”
When Harry’s book “Spare” hit the shelves, it set a record as the fastest selling non-fiction book in history, shifting 1.43 million copies in its first day alone, including pre-orders.
The downside was that it made Harry and Meghan open to criticisms, and it saw a sharp decline in their popularity.
