British Royal Family news reveals Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, are reportedly making their best efforts to fix the rift between them and the rest of the royal family. From offering a clear olive branch by naming their daughter after the Monarch to making phone calls to members of the royal family. With the birth of their daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the couple feels that it’s time to connect with the rest of the family.

According to a royal insider, Meghan Markle reached out to Kate Middleton to ask for her help in getting them into the royal family’s good books. Kate, 39, reportedly wanted to stay out of it because she feared that the pair may use anything she says to them against her, but she did offer some wise words by telling them to stop attacking the royal family. “She’s secretly reached out to Kate, as she knows that the only hope they can have of smoothing things over with the family is to get Kate on their side.”

The former senior royals, who delivered their baby in privacy, reportedly reached out to the Queen first thing after they got home from the hospital. The Queen was also the first to learn of the couple’s pregnancy before anybody else.

“It’s no secret that the last year Harry and Meghan have been at war with the royals,” a Source told US Weekly of the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family. “All is not forgiven, but after all the backlash regarding their interviews—which by the way, the pair have no regrets about—they’re trying their utmost to maintain a good relationship with the queen in order to keep the peace.”

According to friends, Meghan Markle wanted to have her baby in privacy following what she referred to as the “unbearable grief” of a miscarriage last summer.

“They just took it one day at a time, they wanted to have this moment for themselves,” a friend of theirs shared.

According to a source close to the couple, life in Montecito, California “is very quiet and perfect for them. They are close to the beach, which they enjoy, and they also have friends in the neighborhood that they spend time with. They spend a lot of time at home with Archie but have also managed to get a few date nights in as well. This feels like their first proper home together, because they were able to find a house that they both love. It’s nice to see them enjoy life.”

Amidst preparations to receive their daughter Lilibet, the Sussexes found time to recently enroll their 2-year-old Archie in a morning program at a preschool a few days a week. “He is big enough that he is now starting to have his own life too. He enjoys preschool and outdoor activities.”

Speaking of the family welcoming a baby girl this summer, the source added, “They’re so happy. This baby solidifies that they are creating roots here in the States. It’s like a clean slate—almost like a new beginning.”
