Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Taxi Driver Denies Paparazzi Chase Was ‘Near Catastrophic’

The taxi driver who was with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland is speaking out. He suggests that the two-hour paparazzi chase was nowhere near as dramatic as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s spokesperson is making it out to be. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Taxi Driver Denies Paparazzi Chase Was ‘Near Catastrophic’

On Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for the Sussexes released a statement that said: “Last night, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi. This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers. While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”

Yet, in a new interview to The Washington Post, taxi driver Sukhcharn Singh, who was in the car with the Sussexes, is giving a different version of the story.

He said he picked up Harry, Meghan, and Doria and one security guard around 11 p.m. on Tuesday outside the New York City Police Department’s 19th precinct. He went on to say that he drove them for a brief period, during which it appeared they were pursued by other vehicles. However, it does sound as though the chase that has occurred might have been in the black SUV that Harry, Meghan and Doria were in before they were picked up by a cab.

Are Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Telling The Truth?

Singh said that while the Sussexes and Doria were in the car with him, it wasn’t as chaotic as it might have been before. He said, “I don’t think I would call it a chase. I never felt like I was in danger. It wasn’t like a car chase in a movie. They were quiet and seemed scared but it’s New York — it’s safe.”

So far Harry and Meghan haven’t made any additional comments about the matter.
