Prince Harry Beats The Royal Family To The Punch With Heartfelt Gesture

Some people treat it like a competition while it seems like other people just want to speak from the heart.

There’s a new report that says Prince Harry managed to beat the royal family to the punch with a heartfelt speech about Queen Elizabeth on the first anniversary of her death.

The Duke of Sussex opened up about his beloved grandmother while he was at the WellChild Awards in London on Thursday night.

Prince Harry honored his grandmother in a very moving speech at the WellChild Awards in London. As many royal fans can probably recall, both Harry and Meghan Markle were supposed to attend the awards last year but canceled at the very last minute because of Queen Elizabeth’s death on September 8th, 2022. She was 96.

In his speech, the Duke of Sussex said, “As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year, as my grandmother passed away.

As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her.”

He continued, “And that’s precisely why I know, exactly one year on, that she is looking down on all of us tonight, happy we’re together, continuing to spotlight such an incredible community.”

The Royal Family Wanted Meghan Markle To Stay Back

There was also a lot of controversy before Harry flew to Balmoral last year as apparently the royal family did not want Meghan Markle to join him for the trip.

King Charles at the time even instructed Prince William to tell his wife Kate Middleton to stay back with her children just so it wouldn’t look like Meghan was the only wife not there to say her final good-bye to the queen.

So far the royal family have not made any comments about the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death but there’s no doubt that some of them are probably upset that Harry beat them to the punch.
