Prince William And Kate Considering A Move To Windsor To Be Closer To The Queen

British Royal family news reveals the Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly planning their future accommodation as they prepare to take on more senior roles. The proud parents of three are said to be “seriously considering” a move to Windsor, which will put them in close proximity to the Queen.

The Cambridges’ Plan To Move Nearer To Windsor Seen As Advantageous To The Queen

The rumored relocation, which would significantly bring the family closer to the Queen, will be the most relevant sign that the Cambridges are ready to take on a far more senior role at the heart of the Royal Family.

A source revealed that Prince William and Kate have been “eyeing up” housing options in the area that will also work for them in raising their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The source added that properties under consideration could include Fort Belvedere, a Grade II listed house with tower towards the southern end of Windsor Great Park, where King Edward VIII – the Queen’s uncle, famously signed his abdication papers in 1936.

The fort is owned by the Crown Estate, and is currently on lease to the Western Family, who are close friends with the Royal Family. Edward once said that on top of the tower, on a clear day, you could see St. Paul’s “with a spyglass.”

Moving the family west is seen as a strategic and viable move for the Cambridges, as the monarchy is currently preparing for major changes in the coming years.

For now, the Cambridges are splitting their time between their London home at Kensington Palace, where their office is based, and their country home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The home on the Sandringham Estate was gifted to the couple by the Queen, and after carrying out refurbishment work, William and Kate made it their permanent home from 2015 to 2017.

At the time, it was practical for the couple to live there as William was working as a helicopter pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, and it fitted the couple’s plans to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible, away from the public eyes.

But now, with the couple’s two eldest children schooling in London, they might choose to base the family in Windsor and commute to London whenever it’s necessary.

The royal insider shared: “Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn’t really work anymore. It’s a little too far away for weekends, but Windsor is a perfect compromise. They are eyeing up options in the area.”

The move also has other benefits. It would bring the family closer to Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, who live 40 miles away in Bucklebury, Berkshire, and who are known to help out with the kids from time to time.

Following Prince Philip’s passing, the move would no doubt prove advantageous to the 95-year-old monarch, who has always maintained a close relationship with Prince William.

The Queeen To Live At Windsor

For many years, the Queen has always used Windsor as a weekend residence, and a retreat from a working week at Buckingham Palace. But the monarch is said to have plans to base herself permanently at Windsor once she returns from the annual summer break at Balmoral Castle.

She and Prince Philip also stayed at Balmoral during the lockdown. This meant that she was close to her youngest son Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, who live nearby at Bagshot Park, and Prince Andrew, who lives at Royal Lodge with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

In October, the Queen is set to embark on a series of high profile events with various members of the Royal Family. One of the highlights of the coming weeks involve opening the Sixth Session of Scottish Parliament, alongside the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

"She and Prince Philip also stayed at Balmoral during the lockdown. This meant that she was close to her youngest son Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, who live nearby at Bagshot Park" ——– Who writes this rubbish? Balmoral is near Aberdeen in the north of Scotland. Bagshot Park is in Surrey in the south of England.
