Prince William and Kate Middleton Grimace Over Prince Harry Joke At BAFTAs

It’s a topic that is certainly not going anywhere, anytime soon. That of course means that the British Royal Family will just have to get used to the fact that everyone is still talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to quit the royal family and move to Canada. In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge couldn’t help but grimace during an awkward joke that was made about the Sussexes during the BAFTAs ceremony in London this past weekend. Here’s what you need to know.

During the ceremony, Prince William and Kate Middleton sat in the front row while actress Margot Robbie accepted her co-star Brad Pitt’s award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Cliff Booth in the film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Unfortunately, Brad Pitt could not make it to London because of a family obligation, so that is why Margot accepted the award on his behalf.

But it’s what Margot had to read out loud that got a chuckle out of the crowd. Brad wrote a speech for Margot to deliver to the audience, which started with a joke about Brexit. He wrote, “Hey Britain, heard you just became single, welcome to the club!”

After he thanked the cast and crew of the film, he then concluded by saying, “I’m going to name this award Harry. Margot explained that was because Brad was “really excited to bring it back to the States with him.”

The camera then cut to Prince William, who couldn’t help but make a face over the joke with Kate Middleton laughing right next to him. They were both grinning and clapping as Margot left the stage. However, a lot of people couldn’t help but notice that Prince William’s expression looked rather pained over the joke.

So far Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not made any comment about their future or when they plan to return to London for that matter. So far it appears as though they will be spending the majority of their time either in Vancouver or in Meghan’s native Los Angeles.
