Kate Middleton, Prince William React To Meghan Markle’s Coronation Snub

Prince William and Kate Middleton have reacted to Meghan Markle snubbing King Charles III’s coronation on May 6. And according to royal expert Eloise Parker, William and Kate feel just fine about Meghan’s absence.

Because the Duchess of Sussex will remain at home in California, the spotlight won’t feel as strong, said Parker via Page Six.

As a result of the media’s and public’s interest in how Meghan and Harry relate to Kate and William, any gathering of all four means an overload of attention. And both Kate and William feel uncomfortable with having all eyes on them. Because the coronation should focus on King Charles, William and Kate feel especially relieved that Meghan will remain home.

And royal expert Parker feels Markle’s absence means “less emphasis is going to be on” Kate and William. Without Meghan, the media and public won’t constantly try to see “who’s looking where, who’s lip reading, [and] what’s going on between them. There’s such a fever of interest in these relationships,” pointed out the royal expert.

“And the truth is we’re never going to see a ‘Real Housewives’ moment between these women. Everything is going to be kept firmly under wraps,” predicted Parker. “And I think for Kate, the fact that Meghan isn’t attending, helps her keep it that way.”

Meghan Markle Makes ‘Authentic’ Decision

Insiders shared that Meghan’s “genuine and authentic” decision to skip King Charles coronation results from her “awkward” relationship with the royal family. And Markle made that decision only “after everything that has been said and all the things that have gone down,” shared one insider. “The words that Harry and Meghan have said about the importance of their family are lining up with their actions.”

While Prince William and Prince Harry have feuded for years, the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare made their war much worse. And William reportedly feels upset that Harry revealed so much personal information in his tell-all book. For instance, Harry described a physical fight with William. And an insider shared that William feels such details seem unforgivable. 

However, while Meghan decided to skip the coronation mainly because of her problems with the royal family, she had another reason. Markle wanted to focus on her son Archie’s birthday. Because it coincides with the date of the coronation, “there was no way that Meghan was going to miss her son’s birthday,” shard a source. As a result, the 41-year-old mom of Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, will not attend the coronation. However, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry will travel to Westminster Abbey in London to watch his father receive his crown as the King of England.
