Sadly, the World Cup didn’t end in the way that England wanted, but it was still a very exciting journey from the beginning to the end.
And while thousands of English fans made the journey to America to cheer on the Three Lions, there was one soccer fan in particular that was nowhere to be seen: Prince William.
Royal Family News: Prince William’s Latest Excuses Aren’t Adding Up
Seeing how the Prince of Wales is a huge fan of the sport, one would think that he would be in the stadiums cheering on the English team with the rest of the fans, but that never happened and of course, many royalists want to know why.
Well, according to one royalist by the name of Richard Eden, he says that the future king of England is just too humble and maybe even a little too popular to be attending the biggest soccer tournament in the world, if that even makes any sense.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince William decided to stay at home because he wanted to be with his children and celebrate the end of the school year. This, despite the fact that he is the official patron of the Football Association.
Not only that, but Prince William knew that he would get a lot of attention for traveling to America for the games, which is the last thing that he wants to do right now.
Eden even put it this way, “William doesn’t need to be the centre of attention. Not only that: he’s often happy NOT to be the centre of attention.”
Royal Family News: What’s Next For Prince William?
Now, whether or not that is true, no one knows, but Prince William is known to be a huge soccer fan and even flew out to Turkey to support his local team, Aston Villa.
With that in mind, a lot of people can’t help but wonder if there might have been something else that stopped him from attending the World Cup.
Whatever the case, there’s no doubt that Prince William did watch the games at home and probably even wished that he was there in person just because the matches were that exciting during this World Cup.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter, although at this point it’s doubtful that anything will be said.
