According to The Telegraph, the queen reportedly refused to pose for a photo with Lilibet because of a health concern. That, and she apparently didn’t want to worry anyone if the image became public. As many royal fans know, Harry, Meghan, Lilibet and her older brother Archie were all on hand for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee just last month.

And while the queen didn’t get to take a memorable photo with her great granddaughter, Prince Charles was very emotional upon meeting both of the Sussex children during their time in London. The last time he saw Archie was back in the fall of 2019 while this was the first time that he got to meet his granddaughter. One royal source says that Charles is hoping to see more of his grandchildren in the future.

“It was fantastic to see them. It was wonderful to have them back in Britain,” the source said. “The prince and the duchess were absolutely thrilled to see them. The prince, of course, hasn’t seen his grandson Archie for a bit of time and so it was very, very, very special to have some time with him. He hadn’t met Lili, his granddaughter, and so to meet her was very emotional, a very, very wonderful thing.”

What’s more, a source close to the situation even suggested that Prince Charles and other members of the British royal family have applauded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for achieving their goal of being financially independent from the monarchy. The insider said, “Great credit to them. They said they wanted to transition to financial independence and that has now been achieved.”
