Royal Expert Accuses Meghan Markle Of Embellishing Stories About Childhood Struggle

Meghan Markle The Royals news and updates revealed that a royal expert accused Meghan Markle of embellishing her struggles during her childhood years. It all started after the Suits alum shared a few things about her past.

On October 20, the Duchess of Sussex is an advocate of paid parental leave. So she shared an open letter to Senator Chuck Schumer and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

Meghan’s Open Letter

In her letter, Meghan understands the difficult situation of Americans who struggle to make ends meet. She then shared some of the financial problems she encountered during her childhood years like only being able to eat at cheap places like “the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler.” She also shared that she made money by working different jobs.

Advocating For Paid Parental Leave

The duchess is grateful for turning her life around and being privileged now. She acknowledged the financial stability she enjoys now without Prince Harry. Meghan believes that paid parental leave is a “national right” for everyone. For her, no parent “should have to choose between earning a living and having the freedom to take care of their child.”

“This Is About Putting Families Above Politics,” She Said.

“And for a refreshing change, it’s something we all seem to agree on. At a point when everything feels so divisive, let this be a shared goal that unites us,” she added.

Meghan’s Story Draws Flack

A lot of people can relate to Meghan’s story but there are also those who don’t. Royal commentator Angela Mollard thinks that the duchess exaggerated her financial struggles. Mollard said Meghan made the error of embellishing her story when she need to make a point.

She noted that Markle went to a $16,000 a year school and her father, Thomas Markle Sr., was a well-known lighting director. He worked on notable projects such as General Hospital and Married… with Children.

Not only that, Meghan’s father won $750,000 in the lottery when she was a child. When she was in high school, she attended a private Catholic institution, the Immaculate Heart High School.

The Duchess also claimed during a speech at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, that she had to pay for college herself through “scholarships, financial aid programs, and work-study.”

But a report from Newsweek said that Meghan’s parents helped her financially for her studies. This information came out during the trial of Meghan against UK tabloid newspapers.

A filing by Meghan’s lawyer revealed that her father and mother helped with her university costs. Her tuition fees were reduced further thanks to the scholarships she got for her academic achievements.

“[Meghan] also undertook a work-study programme whereby income she made from working on campus after class was applied directly to supplement and lower her tuition costs, thus personally contributing to her tuition as well,” the filing revealed.
