Royal Family News – Queen Margrethe and Prince Joachim Move Forward
Royal Family news reveals that the Queen of Denmark and her youngest son Joachim are working things out. The 82-year-old queen met with her son Joachim, 53, for the first time since she announced that she was stripping his four youngsters of the prince and princess designations.
B.T. reported last week that the prince was traveling to meet with the Queen to discuss the subject and would later fly home to Paris that Thursday evening. A spokesperson for the Danish Royal Household reportedly confirmed the news.
Prince Joachim And Queen Margrethe Need Calm
“It is correct that the Queen and Prince Joachim have spoken together at Fredensborg,” the spokesperson said, adding, “Everyone agrees to look forward, and as the Queen herself has expressed, she and Prince Joachim want calm to find their way through this situation.”
“It is correct that the Queen and Prince Joachim have spoken together at Fredensborg,” a spokesperson for the Royal Household confirmed to the Danish paper. “Everyone agrees to look forward, and as the Queen herself has expressed, she and Prince Joachim want calm to find their way through this situation.”
In another story reported by B.T., it was reported that Danish Crown Prince Frederik – the Queen’s eldest son and heir apparent, was notably absent from the meeting which took place at Fredensborg Palace, where the Queen resides through autumn.
Princes And Princesses Demoted To Count And Countess
This update comes in the wake of claims Joachim made that he hadn’t spoken to his mother, brother, or sister-in-law Crown Princess Mary since the announcement was made that his kids would lose their royal titles and the beginning of 2023. This means that after January 1, 2023, Prince Nikolai, 23, Prince Felix, 20, Prince Harrik, 13, and Princess Athena, 10, will be known as His Excellency Count of Monpezat or Her Excellency Countess of Monpezat.
The major shakeup was announced in a simple statement the palace released on September 28. In an October 1 interview with B.T. Prince Joachim sitting in with his wife, Princess Marie, said that relations between members of the Danish royal family had remained strained since the announcement had been made.

It’s Complicated
When asked if the dynamic with the family felt difficult Marie, 36, said, “It’s complicated, namely. That’s it.” Joachim added that the Queen had “unfortunately” not spoken to him personally since releasing the title change announcement. “It’s also family. Or whatever we want to call it.”
