British royal family news shows that Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge is now the patron of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA). The announcement was made during Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, which ends on Sunday. She said that she is proud to become the patron of an organization that supports the mental health of women, noting that no mother is, “immune to experiencing anxiety and depression.”
She added that it is crucial for anyone who is struggling to receive the, “right support at the right time.”

Kate Middleton is a mother-of-three and an advocate for early education and mental health support. Her new patronage, MMHA, is a UK-wide network of over 100 organizations that work to help women and families with perinatal mental issues gain access to high-quality care and support.
The duchess released a video in which she addressed, “power and importance of connection,” and added that the past two years have brought home the importance of relationships to long-term health and happiness, especially for infants.
She added, “But we all know that pregnancy, childbirth and the first months and years of a child’s life can be hugely demanding. Parents often feel lonely and overwhelmed by these early years. Around 20 per cent of women in the UK are reported to experience perinatal mental illness.”
“Sadly, we also know that many more are suffering in silence. No one is immune to experiencing anxiety and depression during this time.”

She went on to say that, “It is crucial, therefore, that all those who might be struggling are given the right support at the right time, so that they’re able to share these feelings without fear of judgment and can access the information, care and support they need to recover.”
The MMHA’s Everyone’s Business campaign is for all women in the UK who experience mental health problems before, during and after pregnancy. They offer supportive services to families in need.
According to the charity, 20% of women develop a mental health issue during pregnancy or within the early years after having a baby. Furthermore, the pandemic has increased mental health risks for new and expectant mothers.

Royal Family News – Kate Middleton Is An Early Years Advocate
Luciana Berger is the chair of the MMHA which was founded in 2011. She said the group is honored to have Kate as their patron: “The duchess’s longstanding dedication to the early years and keen interest in mental health marry beautifully with the Alliance’s mission to ensure every mum, baby and family affected by perinatal mental health problems can access the right care and support necessary.”
“We look forward to working with the duchess to make this goal a reality for all.”
