Royal Family News: Lionel Richie Breaks Royal Protocol By Touching Camilla Parker Bowles

Well, he is an American, so it’s not like he’s all too familiar with all of the British Royal Family protocol. Lionel Richie is being slammed for breaking the royal rules when he apparently touched Camilla Parker Bowles during a friendly chat they were having at a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this past week. Here’s what you need to know.

As many royal family know by now, both Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are expected to perform as the top acts at King Charles’ coronation concert this weekend. Lionel Richie had decided to fly into London for some of the pre-festivities with King Charles and the rest of the royal family.

And while it looked like everyone has having a great time chatting with one another at the garden party, Lionel couldn’t help but touch Camilla on the arm while he was talking to her. And according to some royal experts out there, that is one of the biggest faux paus that anyone can make when it comes to a member of the royal family. Simply put, you just don’t touch them.

Paul Gauger, of VisitBritain, had this to say to Good Morning America, “You shouldn’t touch a member of the royal family.

You should always wait for them to extend their hand to you and with that handshake, just be nice and gentle. If she doesn’t extend her hand it’s not a sign of disrespect and that’s where you might enter into conversation.”

Royal Family News – Lionel Richie Is Ready To Party With The Royals

Lionel has not made any comments about the matter but at this point, it’s doubtful that he will say anything. But at the same time, there’s a good chance that someone on his staff has probably already told him to keep his hands to himself when it comes to Camilla. That said, here’s hoping that he sings some of his greatest hits like “Dancing on the Ceiling,” and “All Night Long” during the coronation concert. We can’t wait!
