Where was Andrew and why wasn’t he with his family for the fun ski adventure?
He reportedly was advised to refrain from going on the trip so as not to exacerbate his highly publicized woes. He is the defendant in a sexual abuse lawsuit at the moment, and the optics of being on a lavish ski trip would probably not stand him in good stead in the court of public opinion.
Prince Andrew Remained At Home
A possible civil court case is waiting to move forward in New York, with the Duke’s lawyers seeking to have it dismissed. The ruling was supposed to come this week but the judge has delayed his decision.
Instead, Andrew communicated with his family via Skype video calls to Verbier, Switzerland. He reportedly had daily chats with daughters Beatrice and Eugenie and the rest of the party.
A source told the Sunday Mirror that, “Beatrice and Eugenie were both very upset because they were hoping their children would be able to spend their first ski holiday with their grandad and the entire family.”
“Sadly it wasn’t to be, but they did hold Skype calls with their father nearly every day while they were in Verbier so that they could support him and he could see the grandchildren on holiday.”
Why Was Andrew At Home While His Family Was Skiing?
Andrew reportedly had planned to fly to Switzerland with the rest of the group which included his new grandson August, 10 months, and three-month-old granddaughter Sienna. But when his team concurred that such a high level vacation would appear inappropriate given his circumstances he declined to participate.
Last week Andrew’s friend Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in New York of sex trafficking for Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew’s sex accuser claims that she was trafficked as a minor to Andrew by Epstein and Maxwell.
Now the Duke must wait until Judge Lewis Kaplan determines his fate: whether or not he must face a full civil court case over allegations he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre on three occasions in 2001, when she was aged 17. He denies the claims.
