Who is Prince Andrew?

Prince Andrew has denied the charges Virginia Giuffre brought against him in a NYC courtroom, that he sexually assaulted her when she was a minor and a sex trafficking victim of his convict friends Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein.

This week a federal judge ruled that the civil case will be heard in fall, and hours later the palace dropped a bombshell, telling the world that Andrew is no longer allowed to use his titles nor call himself His Royal Highness. He lost his patronages and while still a member of his family, he is definitely not a member of the monarchy.

What Will Prince Andrew Do Next?

Andrew was born on Feb. 19, 1960, to the late Prince Philip and the reigning UK monarch Queen Elizabeth. He had a shiny military career that included serving as a helicopter pilot during the Falkland Islands war. But along the way gained the unfortunate nickname “Randy Andy” due to his party boy rep.

He married Sarah Ferguson in 1986. They have two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and despite being divorced they still cohabitate at Royal Lodge, near Windsor Castle. Sarah has been one of his fiercest defenders, and some tabloids claimed they would remarry amid the courtroom drama.

Back in the day however, there was no love lost between them as rumors of affairs broke them up.

Is Prince Andrew Thinking of a Court Case Settlement?

Before he became synonymous with the word scandal, Prince Andrew served as a trade representative for Britain. Over the years he also took on dozens of charities and accrued eight British military titles.

Royal watchers have pegged him as the queen’s favorite child, perhaps because he reminded her of her husband who also had a jovial personality and a hefty military background.

But today he is an unemployed ex-royal and for years stories about his finances have also hit the headlines. He has been accused of being a deadbeat bill payer on a Swiss ski chalet, which he is rumored of trying to offload as a means of acquiring funds for a court settlement with his accuser.

Is There A Settlement on the Table?

According to the New York Times, “If both sides agree to a settlement, which would bring the civil lawsuit to an end, Prince Andrew would likely not have to admit any liability or wrongdoing, but he could face sizable financial costs.”

“If the case goes to trial before a jury, it could lead to the public airing of tawdry and damaging details about the prince that could further undermine the monarchy.”
