British royal family news reveals that Camilla Parker-Bowles’s turn in the sun may be coming sooner than expected. The second wife of Prince Charles, she will one day be queen consort when Charles ascends the throne. But with her mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth forced to scale back her official calendar due to an undisclosed ailment, other royals are now stepping up to fill the gap.

Queen Elizabeth was recently hospitalized overnight. The exact reason has not been given and her doctors have now ordered her to curb in-person events for two weeks. This caused her to miss two key events, and she is limited to desk duty so to speak.

Charles, Prince of Wales is the 95-year-old monarch’s eldest son and heir and he has been waiting in the wings for the chance of a lifetime, to inherit the monarchy. As a result Camilla has been groomed for her role and is increasingly being seen representing Her Majesty.

The couple recently walked the red carpet for the world premiere of the latest James Bond film and met with world leaders at the G7 and UN climate summits. In a sign of things to come, Prince Charles was something of a rock star at the COP26 climate change conference held in Glasgow last week.

Joe Little is the editor of Majesty Magazine and he thinks the pair’s profile, “will accelerate within the fullness of time.”

“But a lot of people are now familiar with Camilla and are getting to know her,” he added.

Royal historian Anna Whitelock told the Daily Express, “Her position has certainly evolved and there’s been a huge and very long process of rehabilitation since… she was described as this rottweiler at the time of Diana.” She is referring to the fact that Prince Charles and Camilla carried on an affair while he was married to the late Diana. The news stunned the public who quickly soured on Camilla.

In recent times she has been forced forward by the coronavirus pandemic and by the absence of three royal family members from public duties. Prince Andrew is facing a sexual assault court case and Prince Harry and his wife Meghan relocated to California where they pretend to be royalty when it suits them.
