Royal Family News: Prince William Gave The Media A “Group Hug”

British royal family news reveals that Prince Harry has admitted that he and his brother Prince William are on “different paths.” The once close brothers are said to be estranged, and one glaring difference between them is their relationship with the media.

In 2019 this difference in approaches was evident as William, “invited journalists to a briefing on the royal plane even as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were launching legal action against the media,” according to Newsweek.

Royal reporters have said that the royal family, “didn’t agree with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to sue The Mail on Sunday, The Sun and the publisher of The Daily Mirror and its sister titles in the fall of 2019.”

But Prince William tried to enhance media relations by holding a face-to-face meeting, Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills said. If you can believe it, William allegedly told the press to think of the meet up as a, “group hug.”

Harry and Meghan dropped legal action while on a tour of southern Africa. It’s also the infamous point in time when Meghan told an ITV documentary that no one ever asks how she’s doing.

Less than two weeks later William and Kate Middleton toured Pakistan. They landed in Rawalpindi right before Meghan and Harry’s documentary interviews were aired. Mills said in the controversial BBC documentary The Princes and the Press, “We were on the plane to Pakistan and asked to go to the front of the plane and basically told by Prince William, ‘thank you for coming.’”

As if thanking the press for doing their jobs weren’t enough, the touchy-feely prince told reporters, “you should all take this as a group hug.'”

She noted that during the tour, “we were seeing promo clips of Harry and Meghan’s documentary … released that week.”

Royal watcher Richard Palmer told the documentary that, “Harry and Meghan didn’t warn the wider family and staff ahead of a bombshell statement denouncing the media that he used to launch the lawsuits.”

“It quickly became apparent that nobody else in the royal family or the people who worked for them had really been expecting that and they didn’t agree with it. They thought he was crazy doing that.”
