British royal family news reveals that Sarah Ferguson must be feeling emboldened in her old age as she’s now squawking about how the royal family needs to conduct itself.
This from the woman who was divorced out of the clan for a highly publicized toe-sucking scandal with a lover while married to Prince Andrew.
Without a hint of irony, this week flame haired Fergie the Duchess of York said members of the royal family must decide if they want to be “in or out.”
Royal Family News: Fergie in Charge?
She told The Independent: “You can’t have it both ways. You can’t sit on the fence and keep one foot in and one foot out. You’re either in or out.” Just a wild guess, maybe she’s talking about Harry and Meghan?
Fergie has been excluded from most royal events since her 1996 divorce from scandal prone Prince Andrew. Still, she and Andrew live together in royal accommodations, and they share two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 34, and Princess Eugenie, 33 who unlike their parents, have managed to remain relatively scandal free.
Royal Family News: Fergie Talking About the Royals
The Duchess didn’t mention Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by name but she made the cryptic comment that anyone who leaves the royal family shouldn’t “cry about not being invited to weddings.” “You chose to leave, now go and live it – and be it. It was my decision. If I’m going to go, then go.”
Royal Family News: Fergie Gets Real
Fergie talked about her own experience with bad PR saying that after she married the last generation’s spare, “I struggled with that at times, and I think social media probably makes it even more difficult today.”
This isn’t the first time that Fergie has opened her mouth to talk about her in-laws. In March she told People how she felt about Harry and Meghan’s decision to defect from the monarchy: “I don’t believe that any single person has the right to judge another person. I’m not in a position myself to make any judgments.”
“I have been judged all my life, and I have no judgment on the Sussexes.”
On a lighter note, she also talked about her joy at being a grandmother to Beatrice’s 1-year-old daughter Sienna Elizabeth and Eugenie’s son August Philip Hawke. According to her the kids “just follow me around like Peter Pan. I’m ‘Super Gran Pan!”
