Anne is known for her straightforward, take no prisoners approach to life and apparently she employed that method when dealing with Sarah Ferguson during her marriage to Andrew.

Sarah was also a wild card, seen as a bit rough around the edges, in both dressed and behavior.

Royal Family News – Diana And Sarah Were Friends?

The late Princess Diana introduced Sarah to Andrew and together they were seen as modernizing influences on The Firm. The public seemed to delight in the switchup from stuffy to hip, but not Anne who is seen as a traditionalist.

Princess Anne reportedly did not cotton to the idea of freshening up the monarchy and both Diana and Sarah represented new, younger influences on the family. Anne was a bit older and perceived as a little stodgier than her two in-laws and she had been bred to uphold tradition, not break it.

According to the Channel 5 documentary, ‘Fergie vs Diana: Royal Wives at War’, Diana put her foot down when Anne complained about Sarah.

Royal Family News – Did Anne Complain About Sarah?

Royal expert Richard Kay described one incident in which Anne was displeased with Sarah: “Diana had quite a set-to with Princess Anne, who was complaining about something that Fergie had done. Diana stood up for her and said her piece. It was rather brave of Diana.”

“She more or less asked Anne, ‘you’ve got to give her a break. Fergie is good for the family but she’s finding it hard to adjust, just as I did.’”

Another story in the film discloses that Anne once made Fergie cry a family lunch.
