British royal family news shows that the one year anniversary of Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh’s death is almost here and his family will commemorate the anniversary of his passing with a memorial on Tuesday, March 29.
At the time of his death on April 9, 2021, strict Covid restrictions were in place. The rules meant that only 30 individuals were allowed to attend his service, and the queen herself sat alone during the solemn occasion.
Prince Philip Will Be Honored
The couple were married for 73 years and this June she will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee. Before that, Philip’s Service of Thanksgiving will be held at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the life of the remarkable man who stood by the queen, Prince Philip.
There will be more than 30 individuals present as Covid restrictions have been lifted. Which members of the royal family will be in attendance? Believe it or not, there is speculation as to the queen’s attendance.
Will the Queen Attend Prince Philip’s Memorial?
The uncertainty has to do with her health. Late last year she was hospitalized due to an unnamed condition and in February she contracted Covid. For the past few months she has cancelled royal engagements and has not been seen with regularity as in the past.
She is said to have mobility issues and cannot walk her beloved dogs, which had always been a joy and a comfort to her. While the Queen is expected to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service next week, the news has not yet been confirmed.
Who Will Be At A Memorial Service For Prince Philip?
It is thought that disgraced Prince Andrew will be in attendance at his father’s memorial. If so, it will be his first public outing since settling a sexual assault case out of court. He is reported to have paid his accuser millions of dollars, with the amount being donated at least in part by the queen and his brother Prince Charles, according to reports.
Equally disgraced Prince Harry is not going to be present. He has made it known that he needs Scotland Yard security in order to see his family, and Scotland Yard disagrees. So, who else will be at Prince Philip’s memorial?

Philip’s children Princess Anne, Prince Charles and Prince Edward are expected to be there, as will the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Also expected to pay homage in person are Philip’s grandchildren, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn.
In addition, it has been reported that other European royals have been invited. The guest list includes King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, Princess Beatrix, King Willem-Alexander, and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, and King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, among others.
