Royal Family News: York Moves To Distance Itself From Prince Andrew

Prince AndrewBritish royal family news shows that defendant Prince Andrew settled up with his accuser this week, in a secretive agreement thought to involve millions of dollars. He had been accused by Virginia Giuffre in August of having sex with her on three occasions when she was a minor and trafficked by his friend, dead convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The settlement negates the need for a trial which was set for fall.

But Prince Andrew’s reputation is in tatters, and the latest move against him indicates that no one wants to be associated with him in the least. It’s now emerged that an entire city wants him erased from their public identity.

Royal Family News – Prince Andrew Is Not Popular

According to Geo TV, “Councillors in York are looking to get Prince Andrew’s honorary freedom of the city revoked following his explosive, public case against Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that she was sexually abused by him multiple times when she was 17.”

Although the exact dollar amount of the settlement was not disclosed, multiple outlets have reported it to be in the neighborhood of £12million. Prince Andrew has denied the allegations against him and he did not admit guilt in the settlement.

Royal Family News – Prince Andrew Is Not Wanted in York

Based on Andrew’s sordid situation, “Lib Dem councillors in York are submitting a motion to revoke Prince Andrew’s Honorary Freedom of York, which he has held since 1987.”

York Lib Dems tweeted: “At the next Full Council meeting Lib Dem councilors will be submitting a motion to begin the process of removing Prince Andrew’s Honorary Freedom of York and call him to relinquish the #DukeOfYork title. We are determined to end all links Prince Andrew has with our great city.”

Royal Family News – Will Andrew Be Banished From York?

Darryl Smalley is a Liberal Democrat councillor and York’s executive member for culture, leisure and communities. He told The Guardian, “Having been stripped of his military roles and royal patronages by the Queen, we are seeking to end Prince Andrew’s links with our great city, including removing his honorary freedom.”

He went on to say that, “York’s unique connection to the crown and the monarch is an important part of our city’s legacy and history however, as a council and city, we stand with victims of sexual abuse and are doing all we can to end violence against woman and girls locally. As such, it is inappropriate that Prince Andrew retains his ambassadorial title that is intrinsically linked to our city.”

It appears that the disgraced prince’s settlement may have averted a court case, but it has done nothing to abate anti-Andrew sentiment in the UK.

He's guilty, he sold out so items that were going to be brought into the trial wouldn't be made public to the whole world.
