During the final week of April 2025, news about the British royal family sadly reported the death of Virginia Giuffre, age 41. She was known for accusing and suing Prince Andrew for sexual assault and stated she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. Following the initial news, the family’s lawyer made comments regarding a questionable death, but she has recently retracted that statement.
The Statement & Retraction
Karrie Loudon, the attorney, was cited by People as telling The Sun US that, similar to many other suspicions about the death, there were questions surrounding Virginia’s suicide. The attorney was definitely not alone.

Thousands of people on social media simply did not believe that she killed herself. Many of them cited a 2019 social media post where she said that if she were ever reported dead by suicide, then people must demand accountability.
Karrie Loudon said, “We’ve got big question marks over it,” on Monday, April 28. “There’s suicide and then there’s misadventure.” Additionally, after her accident, she’d seemed upbeat, and Loudon added, “[Giuffre] was in a lot of pain, but she was looking forward to things in the future.”
Now, that has been retracted
The Retraction Is A ‘Misunderstanding’
The outlet now cites Virginia Giuffre’s lawyer as saying in a new statement, “I do not believe it was suspicious in any way. The Coroner will determine in due course the cause of death, and that will be established based on the evidence.”
Additionally, the backtrack included Loudon clarifying that she is “not critical of the police, nor am I demanding any investigation.” She explained, “The police are only able to release limited information to non-family members as is their standard procedure. The police are already conducting an investigation and will no doubt provide all of their evidence to the Coroner.”
Reactions By The Public
When E! News shared the update on Instagram, plenty of people chimed in with their opinions about Virginia Giuffre. One of them denied there was any misinterpretation. They wrote,“No, no no we understood just right.”
Others also remarked that they got it the first time Virginia’s death was reported. Here are a few of those opinions:
- I am having a hard time she died from suicide. Totally my own opinion. The timing and the circumstances…not settling. May she be at peace now, and her family.
- This new lawyer is quite the rookie.
- Be a voice not an echo.
What are your thoughts? Because the attorney backtracked on concerns about a suspicious death, does that make you feel less inclined to think the death was misreported? Sound off in the comments below, and come back here often for all your Royal Family news and updates.
