Whoopi Goldberg Weighs In On the Princess Kate Photo Editing Drama

At this point, I’m thinking Princess Kate disrupted something in the universe just for editing a mother’s day picture she took with her kids.

Like all good controversies usually begin, it was started by the press and picked up by the rest of us on the internet.

Associated Press first issued a literal “kill” order on the dissemination of the Mother’s Day picture, which was shared on Prince William and Kate’s joint social media account. Like the Waleses cared right? But then it picked up steam when the “where is Kate” army waded in.

Why the hell are people getting upset that the Princess of Wales edited pictures of herself and her kids for her Mother’s Day post? Whoopi Goldberg would like to know.

“I’m sorry, I know very few people who don’t manipulate their own photos. I mean all you gotta do is swipe. Those editors swipe, God knows people look how those photos look,” Goldberg said on Monday’s episode of “The View.”

When co-host Sara Haines argued that there’s a clear difference between “filtering” and photoshopping, Goldberg exclaimed, “She’s doing the same thing, she’s doing the same thing!”

“You know what, I have to tell you, she may be the future queen, she’s still an amateur photographer,” Goldberg said. “That’s what they do!”

The “Ghost” actress, jokingly turning to her co-hosts, said, “I’m sure that none of you have ever tampered with your [photos].”

“Listen, if manipulating pictures was a crime, the Kardashians, my best friend and I would be in jail for the rest of our lives,” Ana Navarro admitted.

While the audience laughed, Goldberg, 68, interjected, “Didn’t I just say that this is something that everyone does? Didn’t I just say that people do this all the time?!”

When Alyssa Farah Griffin countered that the Princess should at least release a selfie video to quieten the conspiracy theories, Goldberg said, “She doesn’t need to do it! She doesn’t need to do it!”

And indeed, she doesn’t.
