This holiday season will be hard for the royal family. It’s the first season without Queen Elizabeth, who died at 96 in September. You’d think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would focus on healing and rebuilding their strained relationship with Harry’s family. However, they prove time and time again that they aren’t interested in mending fences when they smear the royal family in the press.

King Charles Continue Family Traditions Amid Megan/Harry Drama

As King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla continue the royal family traditions for the holiday season, Harry and Meghan prepare for their Netflix series and Harry’s memoir, Spare.

The Netflix series was originally going to come out in early December. Still, after The Crown’s backlash, the streaming giant postponed the release to late December, just before Harry’s memoir’s release.

With the royals experiencing one of the most painful years in recent years as they endure the holidays without Queen Elizabeth, they must prepare for another crushing blow. And this time, the hit will come from one of their own

The Controversy Surrounding The Netflix Show

Meghan fired director Garrett Bradley after having creative differences. She hired Liz Garbus, who agreed to let Meghan and Harry dictate the final product. Several media reports about Meghan and Harry asking for rewrites of their show after the Queen’s death, prompting Netflix to push back their release date to avoid backlash.

Glamour said that Harry and Meghan wanted to change some of their comments about King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla. That leaves the audience to assume they must have said something unfavorable to the new king and queen consort.

The Royal Family’s Strained Relationship

King Charles decided to uphold the royal tradition and have Christmas in Sandringham. He extended an invite to Harry and Meghan, who declined the invitation. They said they would celebrate in California. Even though Meghan and Harry attended and supported the royal family when Queen Elizabeth died in September, they have no plans to return to the royal fold.

Instead, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry remain focused on projects that energize and help them move forward. They both feel that Queen Elizabeth’s death was both “sad and beautiful,” as she is now reunited with Prince Phillip on the other side.
